I moved to the U.S. a few years ago and as someone who grew up with public health insurance, the concept of a private health system and a private insurance system is overwhelming.
Every time I see letters from my insurance provider, I don’t know if I should be scared of a new payment or if I should ignore it. It’s the same experience every time, it takes me a few minutes to understand what’s the bottom line: why I need to pay for the visit; why the cost is as written; why I have 5 line items for one doctor visit or one lab work.
That’s why I was happy to find a service like Simplee. It helps me understand the overall cost, the discount, and what’s my portion for the claim. I think features like double checking claims for errors are great. For example, my insurance charged me with $ 1,400 for an out-of-network visit, in the end it was in-network and the charge was pulled back: Simplee made this possible.
This is a good start for Simplee and I’m hoping Simplee will help me achieve the same insight into my heath care cost as mint.com has done for my overall budget.
